Sakrete Helping TROSA in Durham, NC

When one thinks of “community outreach” the first thing that comes to mind for many people could be the donation of products or materials. To others it might mean giving a small portion of their time to an organization close to their heart. And to many of us it’s probably contributing financial support to a charitable cause of our choice.

There are many just, noble and deserving charitable organizations around us all no matter where we live and work. It’s not hard to find them as you all well know. In August The Sakrete Team took a trip to Durham, NC to meet with the team from TROSA (Triangle Residential Options For Substance Abusers, Inc.). TROSA is a 2-yr licensed residential substance abuse recovery program where residents learn a new way of life and where each resident’s situation is different yet all too familiar for the leaders.

The Sakrete Team donated 10 pallets of Sakrete Mortar Mix (560 bags) in June. Due to that donation, TROSA invited us to come and view the finished results. The crew at TROSA used the material handsomely to complete a brick wall that was approximately 100ft long and with varying heights. The wall was to the side of a newly poured driveway of an old and nearly condemned house that TROSA had purchased more than 2 years ago and is currently nearing the completion of a commendable remodel. The outstanding part of this story is it has virtually been completed by donated products, material and labor.

On our tour we were introduced to many of the residents that work within the organization. All volunteering their personal stories of struggle and change. Each one of them spoke to us with their heads held high and with their determination on display.

TROSA was structured, organized, committed, proud and busy. TROSA is a self maintained organization which means they have businesses within the organization, employing the residents themselves. This not only gives residents learning opportunity and hands on job skills; it also helps to supplement the support TROSA needs.

The Sakrete Team salutes TROSA for their commitment and service to those with substance recovery needs in their community and also for reaching into neighboring communities beyond the Triangle area as numerous counties and states are represented. We are proud to have been able to donate our product to support the TROSA Team.

Keep up the great work!
The Sakrete Team
