The Sakrete Team Supports Eagle Scout Project

Being part of the community is something the Sakrete Team takes very seriously. Normally the largest events are what is shared and we are thrilled to be a part of them, but sometimes in the shadows of the larger community donations the small donations and their stories can go unnoticed. Here is one such example we are proud to share.

When a company deals with tons and we mean… literally… TONS of concrete materials a day. A simple donation of 12 - 80# bags of High Strength Concrete Mix can easily be donated to an organization without too many people knowing about it. However, in this case we were fortunate to have been approached by a young eagle scout out of Fort Mill, SC while our vendor booth was set up at a recent Carolina Panther pre-game event. We asked the mother of the scout to send us a little information about this story and we want to share it with you.

“Brent Lowney (my son) from Boy Scout Troop 108 in Fort Mill, S.C. received a donation of 12 bags of Sakrete High Strength Concrete Mix to complete his Eagle Scout Project. We are big Panther fans and we never miss a home game. One Sunday, Brent saw the Sakrete tent at the pre-game events outside the stadium and started thinking about asking for a donation.

He did. The representatives were very helpful and took his email information. They emailed him and set everything up for the donation. Brent, his Dad, and I took our truck and met Ms. Gasper and the Sakrete sales rep at the Home Depot in Charlotte to pick up the concrete mix.

Brent's Eagle Scout Project was to build 6 five foot benches for the Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill. Brent built and placed the benches on the Greenway around Lake Haigler for those fishing and/or hiking to enjoy. He used the Sakrete High Strength Concrete Mix to permanently support the benches in place. We know they will be enjoyed for years to come. Thanks so much to Sakrete for their donation.”
