Bonsal American and Oldcastle Lawn & Garden, in conjunction with the Sakrete Sack Program, partnered with Charlotte Business Volunteer Council (BVC), Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) system and the Carolina Panthers to build a new playground for Pawtucket Elementary School. When

arriving at Pawtucket Elementary the morning of April 21st we were directed to an empty field behind the facilities where the playground was to be built.
With precise planning, generous donations and group determination from hundreds of eager volunteers the build began. Perseverance, teamwork and added motivation felt from seeing the smiling faces of children throughout the day, allowed this playground build to be successfully completed by 4pm that very afternoon.
Sakrete of North America donated 422 bags of
SAKRETE Fast Setting Concrete Mix and enlisted the help of Panthers defensive end, Tyler Brayton, to join our volunteers in this playground installation. Oldcastle Lawn & Garden contributed not only with volunteers but donations as well, bringing in
180 cubic yards of mulch (equal to a semi-truck full of bagged material and a bulk truckload) which gave the playground the finishing touch.
The playground build program in Charlotte began eight years ago after several local executives met with then - President George W. Bush, who asked cities across the country to participate in an annual playground build. The Pawtucket playground was the eighth annual playground installation for Charlotte BVC and CMS, and was designed by the students of Pawtucket Elementary.
"CMS is fortunate to have thousands of volunteers, and these folks are among our strongest and most dedicated supporters. Each year they choose a school that needs a playground - and then build one. We are very grateful to them for their generosity" said Dr. Peter C. Gorman, superintendent of CMS.
We are happy to have been part of this community outreach.
