Post & Pole Setting
There are two installation options for setting posts and poles. Depending on the installation and project, those options are:
- Traditional premix method
- Dry mix method
The debate continues in relation to setting posts and poles using the dry mix method. Long-time concrete installers weigh in on their likes and dislikes of this method. Online concrete forums and blogs are filled with the debate of dry mix vs. traditional mixing of concrete when setting posts and poles!
The good news is, if the products limitations are understood and strictly adhered too, all fast setting post & pole concrete mixes can be used by either method. If you prefer the traditional method of mixing the concrete before placing posts & poles, that is absolutely Ok!
For those who prefer the dry mix method, it is important to know which SAKRETE products can be used.
Fast-Setting Concrete Mix – A preblended fast setting mixture of special cementitious materials, sand and coarse aggregate. Used for projects where a rapid set is needed.
Fence Post Mix – Fence Post Mix is a mixture of sand, coarse aggregate and cementitious materials. Used for fence post installations only.
Light Weight Fence Post Mix – A lightweight concrete mix specially formulated for setting fence posts.
NOMIX PostSet – A quality mixture of sand, coarse aggregate, cementitious materials and special additives. No pre mixing required.
Know the product limitations when choosing the dry-mix post & pole setting method:
