One of the most exciting plays in football is when a defensive player breaks through the line and sacks the quarterback. Sakrete is partnering with four NFL teams this season for the third-annual Sakrete Sack™ Program. The Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons are the participating teams. At the end of the season, the player with the most sacks from each participating team will have $5,000 donated in his name to HomeAid, a leading national non-profit provider of housing for the homeless. The overall league sack leader will have $10,000 donated in his name to HomeAid.
Last year, Jared Allen, defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs, was named the Sakrete Sack league leader, registering 15.5 quarterback sacks during the regular season. As the overall league winner, Allen had $10,000 awarded in his name to HomeAid. In addition, Sakrete also made a charitable donation of $5,000 in the names of each of the Sakrete Sack team leaders: Patrick Kerney of the Seahawks (14.5), Osi Umenyiora of the Giants (13), Shawne Merriman of the Chargers (12.5), John Abraham of the Falcons (10), Bryant Young of the 49ers (6.5) and Damione Lewis of the Panthers (3.5).
The 2007 regular season ended with Sakrete awarding America's charities with $40,000 earned through the Sakrete Sack™ Program.
"We are pleased to continue our relationship with these professional football teams to help tackle homelessness," said Johnsie Beck, president of Sakrete of North America, LLC. "Sakrete has a lot in common with these teams. We share the same values of giving back to the community, and we believe that Sakrete products offer the same level of professionalism as these professional players. This charitable program allows us to make a positive impact on the local level because the money goes directly into these teams' communities."
